My good friend Paul Rainey briefly reviews 100 Days of Winter over on his blog.
Paul also updates where he is with NTLTP, which is a fantastic read.

Richard Bruton has just posted a review of Sendek, and very nice it is too!

Richard Bruton has just posted his review of issues 3+4 of Monsters. Here is his closing paragraph.
For the reader it’s bloody brilliant stuff. Just as clichéd (in the best context of the word) as the first couple of issues. A cracking spy-horror thriller, full of nastiness, plenty of gore, rapid action and tremendous setpieces. Just like I’d been expecting.
Again, Goodbrey’s writing is a big draw to the book and I’m expecting him to get very successful in the US anytime soon, but Necessary Monsters is also Sean Azzopardi’s book, with his artwork, all stark black and white stuff, perfectly laid out for maximum energy and storytelling.
Sounds good to me.

Over on his cobblers blog , Jason Cobley mentions 12 Hour Shift.
I was really impressed by Sean Azzopardi’s collected Twelve Hour Shift – a really nicely put together book, thinly veiled autobiographical humorous melancholy.
Pop over and catch up on all the work that Jason is putting out, a very busy (and talented) writer.

Well 2008 was a busy year, and it looks like 2009 is going the same way. Seems that NM has been well received so far, and we would like to thank the people that have taken the time to review the online and the printed version, and also for posting comments as well.
NM has also been included in a few ‘best of 2008 ” round ups… which is very welcome.
Over at Fool Brtannia, Regie Rigby , gives Nm The Jester Award for Best Self Published Comic.
‘This fine comic tells stories of spies and horror in brilliantly stark black and white ink drawings. Dialogue is equally stark and the plotting is taut and edgy.’
Cheers Regie!
Over at CBR, JK Parkin, listed us as one of his favorite web comics for last year.
“It’s a mash-up of horror films, super spies and conspiracy theories, and it’s sick, twisted fun.”
Sounds good to me JK.
Finally a very good friend of the Monster crew, and a talent in his own right Oliver Lambden handed out the compliments in his end of year round up.
Cheers Oliver.
So, hopefully, we will attempt to update this section with a bit more regularity. but, if we are not here then we are working hard to bring you more Monster goodness. And no, we don’t lose ourselves in epic sessions of WoW, or juggling pints of Guinness contests.

The events leading up to Luc’s first convention No Barcodes were recorded in a weekly diary format by Oli, Dan, Oliver and me. Organised by Oli they were collected in comic form, and have been recently reviewed by Richard Krauss for Poopsheet.

Here is another peice of action that i failed to big up on my site. Recently i have had a real falling out with web activity, partly from years of screen and keyboard abusing, and and partly due to the simple fact of being too damn busy.
Anyway, here is a review of the second LUC event, Low Energy Day, so clicky clicky, and read all about.

Richard Bruton posted this review as part of his ongoing Propganda reviews.
In mini comic form this would have been impressive, but in one burst of the collection it’s much more than the sum of it’s individual tales. The unrelenting sense of lost dreams and stalled inertia is all pervading and builds throughout the collection. It’s not a fun read by any means but it’s certainly a good one.

That lovely man Paul Gravett has flagged up Twelve Hour Shift in his PG tips column, and also in the extensive interview over at Forbidden Planet, with that other nice man Joe Gordon. Both articles are worth reading if you are interested in what is happening with the UK scene at the mo’. After this weekend at Caption, i feel that self published comics are in very good health. There seems to be new people every time I attend an event. But, importantly, good stuff being produced.
